ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BED BUGS

Appearance

Bed bugs are small, reddish-brown, oval-shaped, parasitic insects. They are wingless and measure between 4 to 5 mm. Sometimes bedbugs are too small to see with naked eyes. The nymphs are small and difficult to see but the adults are detecable with naked eyes.

Diet & Habitat

Bed bugs only feed on blood. They can drink blood from birds and mammals, but they like human victims best. They are most active between 00:00-05:00 AM when hungry and humans offer these voracious insects an all-night buffet and fantastic places to hide when they’re not feasting. They probes human skin (several times) while searching for a capillary to feed on. After feeding hides cracks and crevices with other bed bugs.

Bedbugs do not transmit diseases to humans, but their bite can cause a mild to severe allergic reaction. Many victims are aware of their bedbug infestation when they discover small red, itchy bug bites on their skin. This is definitely a disturbing find and will raise many questions that need instant answers.

Many people will make the mistake of presuming that the bug bites are flea-related and rush to the local clinic to seek medical attention. Many medical professionals will probably not be able to determine the difference, leaving one to guess where they come from. If you discover small, raised bumps on your home and you do not own any pets, you should pick up the phone and give us a call immediately.
